Substance Use in the Workplace Summit

Inspire Workplaces, Addiction NI and Randox Testing Services have formed a strategic partnership to promote the need for greater understanding of substance use and its impact in the workplace.

The Substance use in the Workplace Summit is the first event in Northern Ireland focused solely on managing substance use in the workplace. The aim of the event is to provide employers with the support, knowledge and guidance they need to combat this growing problem.

Alcohol or drug use can cause numerous problems for any workplace. If an employee is dependent on such substances then it can have an adverse effect on work related performance and morale. In Northern Ireland alone, it is estimated that alcohol misuse costs industry £238 million in lost productivity.

The summit will feature a range of different speakers and sessions on the day, covering various topics. Each participating organisation will deliver a presentation in the morning and provide a detailed breakout session in the afternoon which focuses on how they can help employers improve employee wellbeing. The event strapline; Policy into Practice through Health, Wellbeing and Safety, emphasises the different themes that will be discussed.
